Sunday Letter #36: In My Gardening Era

May 3, 2026

Hi friends,

It’s been almost two weeks since I planted my garden beds and I’m honestly a little shocked… everything is thriving. Like, thriving thriving. I even added some potted plants, but I’m still waiting on my new planters to arrive, so I’ve been babying my delphiniums in the meantime. I got metal stakes to keep the stems upright and at this point I have to ask… who am I?

I think I might actually be getting into gardening. It definitely helps that the weather in Houston has been beautiful lately. Ask me again how I feel about this hobby when it’s 100 degrees outside.

We’ve also been spending more time out there since I got this gorgeous cast iron coated table and chairs set for the dining area. It’s been so nice to sit outside with a cool drink and just watch my little solar-powered bird bath fountain do its thing. The only downside is I have to refill it twice a day because it’s so small and the water dries up, but honestly… still worth it.

Next on my outdoor to-do list is gluing down all the rocks around the pavers and pressure washing everything. I already got the rock glue and the pump, so I’m fully committed. Just waiting for the rain to chill so I can actually get started. I feel like that alone is going to make a huge difference.

Inside the house, I ordered a bunch of new tile samples for my bathroom floor and I’m really excited about this one. I originally had something very neutral on my moodboard, but now I’m leaning toward going a little bolder and having fun with the space. It’s a small area, so why not?

With Mother’s Day coming up, I wanted to share a couple of my favorite gift ideas that I already own and love:

That’s it for this week. Feeling very outdoorsy, slightly ambitious, and cautiously optimistic about my gardening era.

Until next time,
