Sunday Letter #30: Home for the Holidays

December 21, 2025

Hi friends,

What. a. week.

I’m writing this note from Karachi, which still feels surreal to type out. We told my parents we weren’t coming home to Pakistan this December, and hearing the disappointment in their voices over the phone was so hard. They hadn’t seen us or the kids in a year. With my siblings and their families all flying in, the distance felt heavier than usual.

Keeping this secret was one of the hardest things I’ve done, but surprising them was worth every second. Walking into my parents’ home, watching their faces shift from confusion to pure shock to happy tears… that is a memory I’ll carry forever. If you missed the video, you can watch it here.

We’ve been catching up with old friends, eating all our favorite comfort foods, and letting the kids soak up as much family time as they can. I didn't even realize how much I needed this.

On the other end of things, holiday season is officially here, which means all the sales, deals, and last-minute shopping chaos is too. I pulled together some links and favorites if you’re still looking for gifts or home finds.

Here are some of my favorite picks this year:

I know this time of year can feel busy, emotional, joyful, overwhelming, or a mix of all of it at once. Wherever you are, I hope you get a little rest, a little joy, and something to look forward to.

Wishing you a beautiful holiday season.

May we all find our way back to the people we love most.

And if you can, keep my family in your prayers 🤍

Until next time,

Fariha
